The JRC FF50 is a dual-frequency colour fish finder and echo sounder with a 6.5″ display, tested and working.
Overview
The FF50 works on 50 kHz and 200 kHz with 600 W of output power. The two frequencies do different jobs: 200 kHz gives a narrow beam with fine detail for shallow water and individual fish, while 50 kHz covers a wider area and reaches deeper, and comparing the two echoes tells you something about the type of fish and the composition of the bottom. Operation runs through JRC’s joystick and jog dial, with an A-scope mode, bottom lock, automatic gain, automatic range and automatic shift, plus speed, temperature and distance log readouts. A GPS interface allows position to be shown and marks to be set on the sounder picture. The display is 6.5″ with 234 x 320 pixels, and the installation consists of the display unit and a transom or through-hull transducer.
