The Radio Zeeland Sigma 300 is an approved rate of turn indicator for inland vessels, tested and refurbished.
Overview
A rate of turn indicator shows how fast the vessel is swinging, in degrees per minute, and is mandatory equipment on Rhine and inland vessels navigating by radar. The Sigma 300 presents that information on a clear analogue scale sized for the wheelhouse, driven by its gyro sensor, so the helmsman can hold a steady rate through a bend instead of chasing the heading. The instrument belongs to Radio Zeeland’s Sigma line, the generation that preceded the TITAN and THOR instruments, and remains a common fit in inland wheelhouses.
