The SAILOR SGE-406-II is a 406 MHz satellite EPIRB with an integrated GPS receiver, in good, well-maintained condition.
Overview
The SGE-406-II transmits a distress alert on 406.025 MHz at approximately 5 W to the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system, while a 121.5 MHz homing transmitter at 50 mW guides search and rescue units to the beacon over the final distance. The integrated GPS receiver adds the beacon’s own position to the distress message, which shortens the time needed to locate a casualty considerably compared with satellite Doppler location alone. Once removed from its bracket the beacon activates automatically on immersion in water, or manually with a protected push button on the rear. The unit is waterproof to 10 m, operates from -20°C to +55°C and transmits for at least 48 hours after activation.
