The SAILOR 6248 is the successor to the RT2048, supplied new — and, while stocks last, lightly used — with your call sign and the current VDES channels programmed.
Overview
The 6248 keeps what made the RT2048 the standard fit in inland wheelhouses and brings it up to date: a modern housing and display, clearer menus, and a replay function that plays back spoken messages, which is worth a great deal on a busy stretch where a lock keeper’s instruction gets lost under engine noise. We programme the ATIS call sign and the current channel allocation, including VDES, before the radio leaves, so the set is ready to use on arrival.

The 6248 follows the RT2048, of which a great many are still in service. Accessories and installation practice are broadly familiar, which keeps a change-over straightforward.
