The Alphatron BasicTurn is a rate of turn indicator for inland vessels, tested and refurbished, supplied with invoice and twelve months of warranty.
Overview
A rate of turn indicator shows how fast the vessel is swinging, in degrees per minute, and it is mandatory equipment for radar navigation on the Rhine and the inland waterways. It is also what makes a long bend controllable: the helmsman holds a steady rate instead of chasing the heading and correcting after the fact. The BasicTurn is Alphatron’s indicator for that job, sized and lit for wheelhouse reading, and it can be supplied with the matching gyro if the vessel does not already have one.
