About Jabsco
What Jabsco owes its name to is that flexible impeller: a rubber rotor turning inside a housing that is deliberately a little too tight, carrying water along with every revolution. The idea dates from the nineteen thirties and has barely changed since, for the simple reason that it works. A pump like that primes itself, tolerates water that is far from clean, and is as good as new again with a fresh impeller and a few screws.
Alongside the pumps, Jabsco builds the kind of deck equipment that lives outside and stays there. The searchlights are the best known example: a stainless steel head on a pedestal, aimed from the bridge, with a lamp that these days is more often LED than halogen. They are fitted on pilot boats, workboats and yachts, and turn up on a twenty-year-old bridge just as often as on a new one.
That is what the brand does here as well. Jabsco builds in stainless steel and in sizes that have stayed the same for decades, so a searchlight or a pump from years back can almost always simply be overhauled rather than replaced. Impellers, seals, lamps and controls are available per type, including for equipment long out of the price list.
